Coronavirus Guide from the American Academy of Ophthalmology

A Coronavirus Informational Guide for patients regarding Coronavirus/COVID-19 and specific eye diseases has been created by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). The AAO is the world’s largest association of eye physicians and surgeons, a community of over 32,000 medical doctors who protect sight and empower lives by setting the standards for ophthalmic education and advocacy. The stated mission of the AAO is: to advance the profession of ophthalmology and to ensure the delivery of the highest-quality eye care.

Reassurance and Guidance-

West Georgia Eye Care Center has provided the AAO’s Coronavirus guide on our Facebook page, and we invite you to read this article and use the links provided for more detailed guidance. You may also access the AAO’s coronavirus guide directly from their website – https://www.aao.org/eye-health/coronavirus Hopefully these resources will offer some reassurance and guidelines for questions regarding the management of eye concerns.

Our Mission –

West Georgia Eye Care Center’s core mission has always been to serve our patients (this community) to the best of our ability. To that end and as members of the larger health care community, we are following the recommendations of the state of Georgia, the CDC, and other agencies; currently limiting our services to necessary urgent and emergent patient care only. For patients with more urgent eye care needs we will continue to remain available, serving the people of Columbus and the surrounding areas just as we have been for the past 70 years. Call our office with needs, whether that be no glasses and limited driving ability, or need for prescription refill, or problems ranging from a red eye to loss of vision. Just call our office at (706) 323-3491. Also, check our website at https://wgecc.com for updates.

We continue to keep this community in our prayers, and look forward to the time (hopefully in the near future!) when we are able to see you again eye-to-eye!
