It Matters Who You See

Not all optometrists and ophthalmologists have equal levels of competency, so, it matters who you see. When you’re selecting your eye MD, how do you look for evidence of excellence? In the United States, board certification is a trusted gauge of a doctor’s mastery of his field. Ophthalmology was the first medical specialty to provide board certification; now there are 24 boards nationally that certify medical specialists. While not legally required of medical professionals, board certification is proof of upper-echelon skill, merit, and qualification. The certification program is rigorous, and not for the faint of heart. Oh, and we’re glad you asked: yes, every doctor at West Georgia Eye Care Center is board-certified.
Not all ophthalmologists have equal levels of education, so, it matters who you see. In the first book of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, the narrative quest centers around a fellowship. The characters involved in this “fellowship of the ring” are tested to the limits of their physical and mental endurance. Similarly, in the realm of eye care, participation in a fellowship means that your doctor has dedicated additional time of study, persevered through demanding training, and is now recognized as an expert in his sub-specialty of eye care. Our fellowship-trained surgeons represent a diverse range of sub-specialty mastery.
Because it matters who you see, West Georgia Eye Care Center offers board-certified, fellowship-trained, specialized eye care in the diagnosis and treatment of maladies affecting the cornea, retina, eyelids, orbits, and the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. This distinguishes us as the region’s largest multi-specialty eye care practice.
Quality of vision care matters. This is how you see your world. Changes in your vision mean changes in your life. It’s natural to feel a wave of anxiety or uncertainty as you contemplate your eye care needs. We can’t promise to dispel all your fears, but we can promise that you can have total confidence in our doctors here at West Georgia Eye Care Center. They are entirely equipped and trained to care for your eyes with excellence. We know it matters who you see and we look forward to seeing you!
