Annual Christmas Party –
The cold and rain could not dampen the warmth and wonder of the annual West Georgia Eye Care Center Christmas Party held this past Friday. Keeping with our tradition of many years, the festivities were held at the Green Island Hills Country Club. The grandeur of the location with all of its history set the stage for us to count and to share our blessings. We are truly blessed and giving back is important to the staff at WGECC. This year we donated to six non-profits in the doctors’ honor:
Lighthouse for Christ
Eye care to the Needy
Columbus State Foundation
Frontier Alliance International
Mercy Med
Young Life
The season of giving is a great opportunity to highlight an important gift that we can all give… organ donation. WGECC knows first-hand how important the donation of eye tissue can be to a recipient. Last week our surgical coordinator for our corneal surgeons phoned the Georgia Eye Bank to request tissue for a patient. She was told that the end of the year is a busy time and supply gets low. Meeting the needs of patients depends on all of us and our generous willingness to donate.
A Message from the Georgia Eye Bank –
It’s important to remember that donating your eyes is encouraged by all major religions, costs nothing to you or your family, not to mention the obvious blessing to the recipients. By saying yes, you would join nearly 1,000,000 people who have given the Gift of Sight. Your decision to help today will:
- Renew life through the Gift of Sight
- Improve the quality of someone else’s life
- Lessen the impact of grief by helping othersBecoming an eye donor is an easy and simple process. Once you have decided to make a difference in someone’s life by giving the Gift of Sight, sign up on the Donate Life Georgia donor registry. May your Christmas be richly blessed with the spirit of giving!
