May Your Christmas Be Merry and Kind!

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
~ Mark Twain
Conversations at Christmas seem to take on a kinder and gentler tone, as though even our day to day speaking should reflect the generosities of the season. If kindness is, as Mark Twain points out, a language that is universally understood, then it should be a language for all seasons. At West Georgia Eye Care Center we are committed to communicating kindness to our patients every day!
West Georgia Eye Care Center’s 2017 Employee of the Year, Megan McGowan, points out that kindness is a must in her day-to-day encounters with our patients. She says that kindness “…has a ripple effect, and we strive to be kind and to show compassion to our patients.” Meg greets patients with her bright smile at the Midtown office on 10th Avenue, and that smile is the first indication of her kindness, which is evident throughout her many responsibilities serving patients at WGECC.
Another kindness that has been a long-time commitment for WGECC is reaching out to the community’s low vision residents to offer them support and fellowship. Our Low Vision Support Group meets monthly, and is free of charge and open to anyone with low vision along with their family, friends and caregivers. Members are invited to share their victories and their struggles as they face the challenges of living with poor sight. Low vision is a difficult road to travel and having the support of a group can lighten the load of the journey. If you, a friend, or a loved one is interested in support for the challenges of low vision, please call Robin Kelly at 706 – 323 – 3491, ext. 7513 for information on how to join this group.
We are keeping kindness on our Christmas list this year, and strive to be true to our motto of “Commitment to Excellence, Spirit of Service” through the New Year to come! May your Christmas and New Year be truly merry and kind!
